Union position colored blue and "1st position of enemy" colored red. Indicates hachures along the Bull Run and its tributaries, roads, railroads, towns, and drainage. Includes portraits of General McDowell, Slocum, Ricketts, and Griffin. "The story of the battle, by John McElroy" appears below the map. This includes a description of the battle, the organization of the Union army, and a table giving the number of Union casualties by regiment and division.
